Ju Wenjun is the new Women's World Chess Champion, defeating reigning champion Tan Zhongyi with a draw in the 10th and final game of the championship in Chongqing, China to win the title with a final score of 5.5 points - 4.5 points!

The Defeated Champion - Tan Zhongyi. For her part, Tan Zhongyi, the reigning 2017 Women's World Chess Champion did not go quietly--she executed this brilliant 3-move checkmate in Round 4! Grandmaster Tan Zhongyi, who was born May 29, 1991 in Chongqing, China, had won the 2017 Women's World Chess Championship in Tehran, Iran by defeating Ukrainian Grandmaster Anna Muzychuk.

Ju Wenjun
Ju Wenjun is the newly crowned 2018 Women's World Chess Championship after defeating reigning champion Tan Zhongyi. Ju Wenjun was born in Shanghai, China on January 31, 1991. In November 2014, Ju Wenjun earned the Grandmaster title. She is China's 31st Grandmaster and the 31st woman to hold the title.
